Aarya kept her hand poised over the spot where his heart should be. She pressed her hand harder against him. He wasn't lying, there was nothing there. His heart couldn't beat, because there was no blood. The mood had gone undoubtedly upsetting and Aarya looked up at him for a moment, a fierce blush coming to her cheeks. "Well," She started, her hand still subconciously searching for a pulse, "I guess you really do know that I was scared absolutely shitless." She said lightly, laughing at herself. She used her free hand to rub the back of her neck. She was trying to lighten the mood for a vampire? What had the world come to? Aarya watched him for a second, hoping a smile would give him away, let him realize she wasn't as metaphorically heartless as the witches before her. "You know, technically, you have a heart, you just don't have the blood to run it. Really, you should be happy, I would imagine the heart tires after a while." Right, and when the heart gets tired it brings about heart failure, and heart attacks. So, in a way, Aarya was being truthful. "Hearts aren't all that you know." She said with a smile, realizing for the first time she'd had a hand over his 'heart' this whole time. "But you really should be afraid of me anyway." She said lightly, dropping her hand casually as tingles spread up her arm. Brone laughed and shook his head. Was she trying to make him feel better? Was not having a heartbeat like being handicapped in her opinion? She was trying to console him it seemed and he furrowed his eyebrows slightly as she spoke to him. Well did he even have the organ? Why make something you didn't need? He doubted, but he said nothing. For some reason he could not think back to all his anatomy classes, he remembered places for veins in a victim, but nothing about himself. Learning was driven by necessity.
"I should be afraid of you because you have blood? It really doesn't scare me. You're not scared of your food are you?" Brone asked with a toothy grin. Truly just to watch her face. he never drank witches blood. There was a secret about it, but a vampire would never tell it to a witch. During this time he had let go of her hand, and she had dropped it, and he once again became aware of how cold a body was without circulation.

Aarya laughed, "No, not because I have blood, more or less because I could really hurt you." She said with a look a child might wear on their faces when they've been doubted. She opened her mouth to say something else, when she just realized what he'd said. Her his food? "Ha, funny." She said, well, squeaked was more like it. Could he hear the change in her heart beat this time? She hoped not, and, to disguise it, she tried speaking louder.
"So, you guys like witch blood huh?" She asked curiously, really trying to figure out if he was serious or kidding. Please be kidding, pleeeaseee be kidding, she thought to herself, more like begged to herself. Aarya shifted her position, but found her foot was caught in the roots of a strangely grown tree. Well, she'd wait then. Brone looked at her with a vague smile still hanging from his lips. "You can't hurt me, not enough to actually cause me pain." He said, still amused, even as she laughed, but he could see her face shift slightly paler in almost horror. As if he could drink her blood. Probably he could, just a little, but it really wouldn't be much use to him. Animals had better blood. A weak princess, what kind of blood was that? Not energizing for certain. Witch blood was dangerous in large quantities. He could never drink a whole witch, but some, maybe enough to kill her, but then she'd just be an undead vampire. "We like any blood, no need to get picky." He responded lightly, knowing that might in fact bring her more distress. But that did not bother him. He was almost tempted to bite her, just to prove a point. But he'd be better off killing a wolf, it would be more fun.

Aarya glared at Brone. "I might not look like I could cause damage, but I assure you , in battle, you'll be the first I go after." She grumbled, though she knew he would hear her, what with his vampire senses and all. "Honestly," She mumbled to herself, "Vampires these days." She shook her head, did he really think she couldn't hurt him? Damn her rule, she wouldn't attack unless she was provoked, therefore she couldn't prove any type of point right now. Aarya crinkled her nose. "These days?" Brone repeated. "I doubt you knew vampires at any time." He said shaking his head. Did she ever stop? Probably not. Just another good reason to avoid witches altogether, maybe they were all stubborn and foolish. And really, when would they ever face each other on a battle field? As if her father would let her fight. He never would. Brone was sure of that. "As fun as this has been, little witch, I'm sure you're family about to send out the whole army looking for you, would you like me to point you in the correct direction or do you want to continue being stubborn and get lost for a while?" Brone said with a smirk. He didn't have time for this. He'd gotten his blood. Maybe he could get rid of her by drinking more. That could work.

Aarya laughed, even though she hated to admit she needed help getting out of the forest, she had no other choice. "Point the way, your royal highness," She said bowing teasingly before she moved to step forward. Of course, she hadn't been paying mind to the root that had captured her foot.
She stumbled forward, the only thing to catch her fall was Brone, ah, well, he could deal with it. Aarya reached up, grabbing onto his upper arm, which, she couldn't help but notice was rather bulky and...defined. It made her realize just how little she really was. Aarya looked up at him, waiting for his reaction.

Brone was about to point her in the right direction and go on his way but the next thing she knew, the little princess was falling and had grabbed a hold of him. Of course, he was rather strong and did not move from his spot, but looked down at her with a bemused look on his face. "My my princess, are you always this graceful?" He said mockingly as he waited for her to pry her warm fingers from his cold skin.
He grew impatient and removed her hand, letting it fall back to her side. He was never touched, not held ever. Vampires were not exactly maternal. He'd had his share of lust in his life, what vampire hadn't? But simple touches were so strange to him. "Your kingdom is that way." He said pointing behind himself to her left. But he doubted she could keep going straight for long enough. Would he have to lead her out of the forrest?

Aarya crinkled her nose, "Of course I am." She said, not thinking before she responded, basically she accidentally made fun of herself. But she was too stubborn to go back and correct it. Aarya just laugh, straightening herself up and relinquishing his arm. "Thanks for that." She said lightly, heading off in the direction he'd advised.
Of course, Aarya had planned to go on herself, but that was before the lone wolf showed up, growling and ready to pounce, had appeared in front of her. And yet, the rule she'd abided by for as long as her father had been teaching it to her, would not let her move to protect her own life, she probablly looked paralyzed with fear. Aarya readied a spell, once the wolf had attacked, she could fire right back at him, leaving him dead. But not a moment sooner. As the wolf was about to lunge, she took a staggering step back, of course she was afraid, but disobeying her father, at any time, even now, would be unforgivable.

Brone was already starting off in the opposite direction when he heard a growl from behind him. And between the trees he could see Aarya with a large wolf in front of her. He sighed. the poor little thing could never make it on her own. And in this woods, she was bound to meet more wolves, or get very lost in deed. He'd have to show her the way out.
Brone went back, slowly at first, what was the hurry but she was walking backwards and as... graceful... as she was, that was bound to be a disaster. And the wolf jumped into the air and Brone was not sure her reflexes would be fast enough. He met the animal in the air, both of them tumbling to the ground. Leaves flew up around them as the two bodies hit, the beats snarling and baring its teeth. But that did not scare Brone.

Aarya's eyes widened at the sight of Brone. Her hero, more then once now. She didn't know how to respond for a minute, if she tried to do anything with magic she might miss and end up hurting Brone, and that wouldn't be good. With a quick though, Aarya mustered up a spell and cast it towards Brone, if she couldn't fight, she could at least protect. A shield, of course. This would at least give him enough time to get the upper hand, she wasn't sure how long she could hold it for.
"Er, do your thing, bloodsucker!" She called out to him, "I've got you covered." She assured him, completely serious. Fighting wasn't her favorite thing in the world, and as the wolf took a swipe at Brone's face, she gave her shield a little extra, feeling the rebound herself. It didn't hurt, more or less, it surprised her. Aarya knew she seemed weak, but there would come a time when she could show Brone what ability she really had. Aarya would make sure of it, she couldn't leave her impression on him being weak and annoying.

Brone couldn't thank her yet, he was thinking so hard at the moment. Brone felt himself flinch as the paw came toward his face, claws outstretched,m but they never met his face. The witch had a use after all. Brone kicked the wolf off of him, sending it careening into a tree. There was a terrible snapping sound as a few of the wolf's ribs cracked. Brone watched it carefully. he really did not want to suck its blood if he didn't have to, it was a hard thing to watch, and he would try and spare Aarya that.
The beast had not given up yet, in was running back at Aarya at full force, Brone moved swiftly in front of it and grabbed it around the head, trying to keep its teeth away from him, at least the clawing feet were not leaving a scratch. He sunk his teeth into its side, blood rushing into his mouth. He was a glutton. He felt like one. Brone did not take enough to kill it, just enough to make it collapse, it's legs folding beneath it. He was almost afraid to turn around, the blood would still be flushing his face. "It's not dead." he said quietly, as if that would make a difference to her.

Aarya watched as the wolf moved to attack her, she dropped the shield she'd had on Brone and took a few stumbles backwards. She couldn't react fast enough, no spell had come to mind like they usually did. Aarya had been caught hopelessly off guard. And, with ever so much grace, Aarya tripped backwards. Finally, she'd thought up a spell, only it was too late. Brone had gotten to the beast before it had gotten to her. Aarya was thankful and was about to tell him so when he sank his teeth into the beasts neck

, maybe Aarya should be more fearful of her life.
She couldn't take her eyes from the site. It was gruesome and terrifying, but Aarya was unable to look away. She suddenly remembered her fear of blood. Even after the animal fell limply to the ground, Aarya did not think she could move. When Brone spoke, it took Aarya a moment to understand what he'd said. "Oh," Aarya mumbled, her face pale. "I just remembered I don't like blood very much." She croaked, eyes still on the wolf.

Brone felt bad she had to see that, but it was life and she ought to know what she was really facing. he could have killed that wolf, and he could have killed it long ago if he had not been trying to spare her the sight. His face was still hidden, turned away, and he licked his lips so as not to get blood on his sleeves. His body was processing the blood, and might look almost human to her if he turned around, but he knew she would not want to see his body, gorged with blood. Brone pulled on his hood so his face was cloaked in shadow as he turned around to see her. She was frozen to the spot and pale as he might have been normally.
"Eat or die. No matter what you think of what you are given. I have no real options." Brone said in a voice that sounded like a whisper, but cold. Not at her, but thinking of his own existence. He lived off others dying, it was not his decision, it was just the only way. At least he let the poor creature alive. He knelt beside the wolf now and checked its side, it would heel. Brone looked then at his broken leg and laid it straight. Brone hoped the wolf was not ill, because then he would get ill as well. Germs were in the blood. "He'll be fine." he repeated for her.

Aarya looked up at Brone for a moment, her eyes finally ffindin some other distraction from the wolf, bleeding through the two little holes on his neck, vampire teeth sized. Aarya opened her mouth to say something, but it took her a moment to make sense of her words, as they were all trying to jump out at once. She didn't really know what to say, she'd never witnessed a vampire feeding. It definitely wasn't something she'd be sharing with Guinevere over night-time tea. It wasn't something Aarya was sure, she was allowed to share with anyone. Aarya looked back to the wolf, nodding slightly, "You're right, he'll be fine." She agreed, trying not to think the worst of the poor animal, at least, now that it was injured it was poor, before when it had been about to attack her, well, she wasn't too thrilled. Aarya tried a smile, "Hey, at least you aren't a glutton, right?" She tried joking, finally finding the feeling in her limbs again. She pushed herself up, shaky on her feet for a moment, but she was determined no to trip over herself, not in front of Brone. She'd rather fall down the stairs in the castle, but it would be downright shameful to mess up anymore in front of the vampire prince. She hoped he wouldn't go back to his castle and laugh at her with all his buddies. Oh god, she'd really done a number on herself this time.
Brone could see her face as he looked away from her. "Right." Brone put his strong hand on the wolf's side. It moved its head up to look at him, got up and looked at Brone for a moment and started walking away from them. Brone looked down at his hands, maybe he was like an animal. But this was just his nature. "I'm sorry you had to see that." he said to her. "But at least you haven't seen a vampire hungry, its an ugly site." Aarya would probably die of shock if she saw blood lust shining in a pair of eyes and they sucked a creature dry, twitching with dwindling life in his hands. "I'll try and make sure you never will, but really, if you keep coming to these woods...." She couldn't avoid it if she stayed around here like this.
Brone knew she probably did not want to spend more time with him, but he doubted she could find her way out of here, and it was getting dark. "Do you need me to get you out of here, you won't want to be here once the sun falls."

Aarya watched for a moment as the wolf walked away, clearly realizing he'd bitten off more then he could chew. Aarya was grateful she'd been with Brone, that might have been an interesting fight to watch her take on, had she been alone. "No," Aarya shook her head, "It's okay, really. It had to be done. And you didn't kill the wolf. Just enough to keep it away. So thanks." She said softly, for some reason, she felt the need to console him, it was unfair for him to feel so guilty after saving her skin. "Unless you would rather I had been ripped to shreds?" She joked, although she couldn't be too sure. "A vampire hungry? Yeah, that might be a complete paralyzer." Aarya mumbled, though with his keen ears, he'd be able to pick it up as easily as if she were talking normally to him. "I'll try to avoid these woods, with a little more effort." She added in the end, unsure if she wanted to avoid them completely. Not that she'd ever admit this to anyone, but the Vampire woods seemed to Aarya, much better then those of the witches. "Actually, yes, I think I might need an escort out." She admitted, with a laugh. The idea of sticking around until sundown? That was scary.
The apology caught him off guard but he nodded his head to her. "You're welcome." He said softly. "No one deserves to get ripped to shreds." He said simply, meeting her eyes from under his hood. He lowered his hood, knowing that the blood had gone from his face, he had spent so much time studying with others, since of course he had never seen his own face except in drawings, and occasionally he could see a faint reflection but never enough to really see. "It would be, so I suggest you not come here much unless its a sight you wish to see." He said walking towards her again.
"I thought you might, its too far to teleport, so you'll have to get on my back." Brone said. But really the idea of giving her that much access to his neck (because even vampires die with a severed head) was troubling. But he doubted she would even want to kill him now. A Life for a life. he'd consider it repaid if she did not use her opportunity. And stooping to let her on was so lowering, but it had to be done if they were going to get out in time. Brone crouched slowly at her feet, not looking at her. "I won't hurt you, we don't have time to stand around."
