All good stories begin with a battle.

A war between two sides, two races both fighting for the same things. No one is sure how it all began, all that anyone knew was Vampires and Witches could never make peace.

But no one could say they hadn't tried.

Money was tight when it all started, and no one could afford the war that was tearing the ancient kingdoms in two. But no one could make it stop. In order to try and settle their differences the heir to each throne was thrown into an arranged marriage. Prince Vlad Van Estra and Princess Cara Waldewick however, could not fall in love. So they plotted together to stage the bride's death and escape both the marriage and the war.

The wedding night was one no one would forget.

When the sun rose the next day Cara really was dead and a bewildered Vlad was condemned to death. Since then, the war has exploded to holocaust proportions, each trying to wipe the other out completely.

No one knows how the deed was done
And two generations later hate has not dwindled
Both sides wanted peace
And both paid the price IN COLD BLOOD
