The baby had been increasingly active for the past few days now, and it was unnerving even to Serena. Her need for blood had increased until she almost couldn't go ten minutes without feeling the thirst. She didn't know if it meant that the baby was coming any day now, but it was a hope. She was so anxious to hold her baby and have it there with her that she woke up every day wondering if it was the day. It just wasn't coming soon enough for her.
But that particular day, almost a week after everything that had happened, she had been walking around the bedroom because of sharp pain that had woke her up. Brone was already gone, off to his duties, which she was used to. All that meant was Serena had to entertain herself, practicing her powers just slightly, moving the smallest objects around the room as she paced, only stopping when a servant came in to replenish her blood supply. But about midday, the vase that she had in the air suddenly crashed to the ground, sending shards in all directions. Looking down, her eyes widened and she hurried to pull the rope cord.
A servant hurried to the throne room where his king was busy with the war generals. Already other servants and a doctor headed towards the royal chambers and this one had been told to go directly to his highness. He waited until the king noticed him before stepping forward and moving to whisper into his ear what he was told to say. "My king, it's time."

Brone hated war councils. The generals wanted blood, they didn't want to end the war like he did. But he tried his best, as king to figure this out. Brone needed to negotiate a treaty with the king. The vampire people--and no doubt the witches too-- knew now that Vlad III was dead and that Brone was officially king. The ceremony was being planned for a few days later, just for pageantry's sake, Brone was king. His father was under the ground now in a stone building.
He was in the middle of an argument when he noticed another man in the room, a servant. Brone motioned for him to come forward to talk to him. The words hung in the air for a moment--every man was listening in, he could tell. And frankly, he knew exactly what the servant meant.
Brone was going to be a parent any minute.
He got up suddenly. "I'm sorry gentlemen, we shall reconvene at a later time. You are dismissed." Brone got up and left the room, the servant at his heels. The corridors seemed so long that day. Finally though, he reached his love, opening the door slowly. Doctors were hovering over her, she looked pained to him and he went quickly to take her hand at least, and kiss her forehead.

Serena was propped up on the bed with her eyes closed, breathing deeply in order to ignore the doctors for at least a moment. She always have and always will hate having people crowd around her like that, even if it was for her own good, though she didn't think it would be this big of a deal. They seemed to wonder if her child's birth was going to be normal because of the magic in her blood and she was this far away from reaching out towards the doctor closest to her and wring their neck.
When she felt a hand slip into hers just as a pain shot through her, she immediately gripped it before she opened her eyes, smiling briefly from the kiss to her forehead. She was so happy to see Brone...and she wished the doctors would go away. "Please tell these idiots that just because I have witch blood doesn't mean I'll have an abnormal birth," she grimanced, crying out from the next pain and glaring at the other men.

Brone smiled lightly, Serena was always herself. "The baby will be fine, its got much more vampire than anything else, the pregnancy seems normal by what I've learned, they have nothing to worry about." Brone said to her, but the doctors were listening to him carefully now--he was the king. "I think the bigger issue is that as soon as we're married, you'll be queen, and this baby-- a potential heir." he was thinking of letting women be heirs, but that might be too big for this day and age--he'd wait and see.
He let her grip her hand, he could tell she was in great pain. The sun had fallen, should someone get her mother? Did she want her mother there? Could the woman do any magic to help with the pain? "Do you want your mother here?" He asked her. She must feel strange giving birth in front of many strange men.

Serena smiled a little and rose his hand up to her lips so she could kiss his fingers before she had to grip it again. It crossed her mind whether or not he would be disappointed if he didn't get a boy for his heir. But if she had known he was considering making their child his heir, regardless of gender... well, she didn't know what to feel about that but either way she would be proud. All that was on her mind right then was for the other men to back off, which she managed to do by growling at them.
Blinking, she turned back to Brone at the question, her eyes widened slightly. "Please see if she can come. Hell, even throw it in her husband's face if possible. I can't stand them looking at me like that..." She refused to call Markus her father anymore. As far as she was concerned, the Baron could kiss her butt. Literally.

Brone smiled softly. "Alright. I'll send someone." He didn't want to leave her side, he didn't want to miss his child's birth. Many vampire men had illigitimate sons and daughters all over the place and didn't care, but for Brone, a child was a child, and they were getting married soon. So even if the child wasn't exactly legal---he didn't care.
He motioned for a servant to go to Serena's home and ask the lady of the house to come to the castle for the birth of her grandchild. They were all connected now, the two families forever. The servant scuttled of, disappearing into thin air. It would be simple to get there and say, but Brone did not know how hard it would be for her to get away. His own grip tightened, he thought of Tobias, at that house... her father must be so angry.....

Serena smiled at Brone and went back to closing her eyes and breathing, gripping his hand when she felt pain. She didn't even notice when he gripped her back, rather distracted by her own pain. She didn't even think about her father's feelings in regards to her mother or the death of Tobias. She just wanted the two people that she loved to be there for her.
It took at least another half hour before the servant returned with a very haughty, beaten and bruised Victoria. Despite her bruises and cuts, she still had on a gorgeous black lace dress and had her hair pulled back. She was trying to keep on as she had been for the past few days. Along with her came the same woman in a black cloak that had been with her the night Brone killed Tobias. Both women bowed quickly to Brone and Victoria hurried over to Serena's other side as the other woman started bustling most of the doctors out of the room.

Brone waited, trying to block out Serena's small cries of pain. It was a bit hard to handle. What struck him about when Victoria showed up, was her dignity. Though she was bruised and beaten, her body worse for wear and obviously causing her pain, she looked around boldly. She was strong as ever. Truly an admirable woman. He bowed back. The second women he knew from when he had killed Tobias, which must have been what caused this to happen to Victoria, the shame and guilt hit him so hard he shook ever so slightly as he gripped Serena's hand, rubbing his fingers over her knuckles as she cried out again. This was not a quick birth...
The doctors gave him looks as the second woman tried to usher them out. Brone just nodded. "Go, I am sure she know what she is doing. I trust them." He said, and the doctors, though disgruntled, left the room.

Once the doctors were gone, the woman took off her cloak, revealing herself to look like a beautiful gypsy with long raven hair that was a signature of the De Lorme women it seemed. Her dress chimed softly when she moved, for there were silver coins threaded to the lines of her corset as well as made into bracelets adorning her wrists. Those she took off and placed in a small pouch at her waist, as she looked at Serena and Brone, speaking softly in a different tongue as she moved to sit near the foot of the bed, where a doctor had been sitting once before.
"She said the womb is tainted with dark magic, which is why it's taking so long and is so painful," Victoria translated as she took her daughter's hand, motioning for Brone to come closer. "Sit behind her and I'll show you how to help with the pain." Both Victoria and Serena looked up at the midwife as she waves a hand and makes a pile of towels that the doctors had left float over to her. "Quickly now, the baby's crowning."

Brone was fascinated by the woman, her face striking and resembling Serena, her hair as well. Her family. Now, part of his family...... She had bangles on her wrists, every inch of her covered in silver coins that jingled, making the room feel strange, it reminded him of being on the street. And what language was she speaking?
Dark magic, that figured, Brone frowned, and reluctantly, took his hand from Serena's grasp in order to come behind her as her moth instructed. he sort of leaned over, not sure how to get behind her since she was propped on a bed. Towels floated through the air and he was sure things were moving now--but maybe Serena had barely begun to fight. He waited for instruction from Victoria. He realized how utterly he trusted this woman-- both of them. All for the love of Victorias daughter, Serena was the world to him. Surely, he wouldn't lose her now....

Victoria made sure he was comfortable where he was before rubbing her hands together until they glowed softly. Then she reached up and traced a simple on his forehead, that made his own hands glow. It would give his entire body and strange, tingling feeling, but it wouldn't be harmful like Tobias' magic had been. It would feel like a comfort, soothing. "Press a hand against her lower back and keep holding her hand with the other. It will help dull the pain, even if it doesn't take it all away. Think of sending your love that you have for her through your hands."
Just then Serena screamed from the pain, wanting so desperately to push, but was being told to try to calm down and not push just yet by her midwife, her bisabuela. Serena spoke back the little she knew through clenched teeth, feeling as if she just wanted to explode. The only thing keeping her mildly sane was having Brone there to hold her. She watched with tear-filled eyes as her mother took out a tiny blade and handed it to her bisabuela, who was trying to make sure the baby could get through.

Brone felt strange, his whole body thrumming oddly, but not badly. It was simply odd-0-glowing was not something he was used to, but he gripped her hand right before she screamed, putting his hand on her lower back. He still felt like he was static in the air, glowing and shaking, but he stood still as he could. Sending his love, he could do that. Right? He just tried pushing, right from his heart and into his hands, to her. He was sure he could handle that. He knew he loved her ad it should help her. It had to help her.
He saw the knife and shut his eyes. Despite the fact that he was so used to blood, and that he had slept with her so many times. The idea of a knife near her flesh made him uneasy--and no doubt would remind her of Tobias. That made Brone think of the blood on his own hands. He took a deep breath and tried to forget all that--could his anxiety travel through his hands? Maybe. He focused on love instead.

Serena closed her eyes as she felt a calm start to flow into her, a feeling so strong she was slowly starting to ignore the pain. She knew what her love for Brone felt like, but to feel his own moving through her, escalating her own until it was near overflowing was beyong her comprehension. It made it easier to stop pushing and relax a bit. Unfortunately, she opened her eyes in time to see the blade and she started to slowly panic.
Anxiety suddenly washed through her and she started to push when she shouldn't have. Her bisabuela quickly had to start to coach her especially to make her stop pushing. As soon as the warm comfort of his love filled her again, she was able to relax long enough for her to start pushing at the right time. The actual act of pushing out their child took half the time of getting to that point, though it helped Serena wasn't as focused on the pain as before.
After a lot of pushing and cries when even the pain of giving birth was too much to bear, a smaller, high-pitched cry could finally be heard. Serena nearly collapsed against Brone, panting for breath, as her bisabuela cleaned off and wrapped up their child in one of the towels Victoria handed her. "La niƱa," she smiled, which was instantly returned by Serena as she reached out for their baby. "It's a girl, your majesty," Victoria translated for Brone as she handed over the tiny babe.

Brone could sense her calming under his hands, and he was glad for that. he wouldn't wish any more pain on her ever. It was worth it, and despite the fact that ever scream made him worry, he just kept pushing his love into her. How was it that he felt so tired? but the love was endless, he knew he'd never run out, but his body might not handle all this magic so well.
Finally, another cry joined the air. Brone looked over Serena's shoulder in order to see the baby as the second woman cleaned the child up. Then the baby was even closer as he released his love's hand so she could take their baby in her arms.
A girl.
"Our daughter," Brone said softly reaching one arm around Serena and reaching with his other hand to gently stroke the baby's sot dark hair. She was beautiful, and would no doubt look like her mother. She was going to be beautiful, but what would they name her?

Serena's eyes were soft as she gazed at their baby girl, unbelieving that she was there. She was so small and so beautiful. And when she opened her tiny, round eyes, her heart just melted. The hard part would be figuring out a name for their small miracle, the light of their love... That was it. Their light. The words just flowed from her lips before she had time to think about it, just coming to her naturally.
"Lucinda Victoria Van Estra. Victorious light," she murmured, looking up at Brone with excited, but tired eyes. It was so perfect to her now that she thought of it. The names of their mothers that held such meaning for both of them. What could be more perfect than that? "What do you think?" she asked him softly.
